London’s city centre “City of London” is primarily a financial district, but one that looks quite a bit different than the financial district in Toronto or NYC. There are a lot of old mid-rise buildings about 6-8 stories. Where you see newer and taller buildings (still often only 20 stories), they were typically built on sites that were bombed out during WWII. In Toronto of course, we tear down our buildings to build new stuff on top.
Here’s a Monty Python-directed short film that shows a typical City building being…converted into a pirate ship by old accountants and used in a corporate raid. No, really. The film is about 15 minutes, but the first few will show the City clearly.
