London drinking culture

…as advertised, it’s a big thing.

4 of us went out yesterday afternoon.  In Toronto, people generally order and pay for their own drinks and go at their own pace.  In London you buy rounds, and your pub visit lasts as long as someone still has to pony up.  So, because I went with 4 people, I had 4 pints on an empty stomach and that’s too much for me to handle.

There seems to be a tolerance (encouragement?) of binge drinking and public drunkenness.  I love beer as much as, or quite possibly more than, the next guy but have never dealt well with excess.

It’s the morning after now and I’m feeling OK.

Too much of a good thing.
